Marcus Hildebrand

Marcus Hildebrand

For the past 25 years Marcus has kept the lights on working as a freelance copywriter on campaigns for everything from yoga pants to retirement homes. If awards are your thing, he's won several of those as well. His varied career path has taken numerous detours, running the gamut from creating the manifesto behind what became Vice Magazine to being a graphic designer for Montreal Mirror, from self-publishing a wildly unsuccessful graphic novel entitled Dear Mark Zuckerberg, Please Don't Sue Me to having several vernissages in Montreal, including—Goats Amongst Us and Strange Weather—featuring his artwork. In between all of this he continues to work as a commercial voice director, and has also lent his voice to an audiobook on caregivers by Mark Barnes entitled Be With. Today, he lives a mild-mannered existence on the outskirts of Montreal. He is the husband of three-time novelist Claudia Goyette, the excessively proud dad of three children, and the reluctant owner of a mildly annoying shih tzu. In 2020, he was accepted at Banff Centre for the Arts Winter Writer's Residency, where the first seeds of his debut novel, The Book of Bean were planted.
