Marcus Hildebrandt
In a creative path that has taken many unexpected detours, Marcus Hildebrandt has worked as a film reviewer and arts editor for Images Interculturelle in Montreal. A graphic designer for Montreal Mirror Weekly Magazine. A poet featured in Errata Magazine. A painter in vernissages entitled: Goats Amongst Us and Strange Weather. An award-winning freelance copywriter under the banner English Department on campaigns for everything from yoga pants to retirement homes. A commercial voice director for countless radio campaigns. An audiobook narrator for a chapbook on caregivers by Mark Barnes entitled Be With. The creator of a short-lived, low- budget online Canadian version of The Onion, The Bacon. A self-published author of a wildly unsuccessful graphic novel entitled Dear Mark Zuckerberg, Please Don't Sue Me. And occasional lyricist for Montreal electro-pop act Papish. Today, he lives a mild-mannered existence with his family, and not-so-mild-mannered Shih Tzu, on the outskirts of Montreal. In 2020, he was selected for the Banff Centre for the Arts Winter Writers Residency, where the first seeds of his debut novel, The Book of Bean, were planted.
